Ok, So my drivers side door is pretty much going to have to bee cut off or removed completely. The mechanism that locks the door has been permanently locked and cannot get the latch to get over the striker. Can't seem to find a door for the drivers side anywhere locally. So I figured. Mad max time?

Going to remove the doors completely. Add 2 bars going across the inner door frame. To add some rigidity and keep my ass from falling out. Wanting to get some racing seats and harnesses as there wouldnt be any seat belts if the doors go bye bye. Anyone know of racing seats that would fit? I saw some NRG seats for cheap that came with harness. But I get a lil :? when it comes to something that's called universal. Any thoughts on seats? Anyone installed a universal racing seat in an MK2?

I figured I would do a canvas military style roll over the door with some snap rivets for those rainy days. And just roll them up on those hotter days. I am still wanting it to be street legal. So I have to follow some guidelines. But no where does it say in the rules I need doors

Anyway. Other modifications would be bigger tires and wheels. Maybe 205/75/R15's. Which I would take front fenders off or modify them to work properly. I also think extending the rear wheels with some spacers 2" or 1.50". Wonder if they would clear? or I would have to cut back wheel well? I'm looking to extend the real wheel base. to fit wider tires and wheels.

I'm going to draw up some pictures and plans so I can get a good concept image of what I would like to do. There will be more on this in the future. I am just sick of this door issue and am going to start getting the seats and belts ready to go. So first question:

What are some cheap universal racing seats that could be installed in a 94 metro? Would the NRG's work? or is there any other company that makes some sliding racing seats that would fit with minimal modifications?

Better have a welder and skills, someone does sell bolt on slider in wich you can mount universal seats over it. Id pass on them and take some measurements and make one yourself, it might seat a little higher so take that into concideration. Take pictures!!!

My 86 sprint came with bride seats. Which had sliders and if it wasn't for the car being folded in half I may have been able to retrieve them. Was a sad day. For now I am ordering 2 4point harnesses and attaching some bars to the inner door frame and behind rear seats to support the straps. As I don't have a welder I will do it bolt on style. Then take it to get welded.

It would have required alot of time, prep, and pieces to do that.

If you were good at Airbrush, you can paint those graphics on the car, metal-like, rivets, rust, etc...

Well mad maxing it would have been because the drivers side door was stuck shut. And couldn't get it open. After taking most of the door apart I fixed it. My plan was to remove the doors completely. And go mad max on it. But have since changed my min. And am going a different route
