cool...roots chargers make light cars really go like hell.
whats on the backside of the intake T? looks like a extra throttle body or a bypass? please explain...id like to see more of these...ive done large turbos on 4cyls and rootschargers make torque everywhere in comparison. they really accentuate the light weight feel/ hard pull of a great little car...even if this is a mini...

I kinda like the idea of a centrifugal blower feeding a turbo... So you get all the kick out of both setups.

But I do have to admit, those Roots chargers are damned sexy looking... =)

I like roots for their power across the band... I wish there was a dummy kit for me. I would love to 'bolt' one on. I even try with minimal fabrication.

Any other roots builds on a g13b? I'll have to search...

M62 on a G13b, some dude around here got one but it sits so high the hood needs to be cut. I don't think he managed to get it running right yet.

he's always working on some other projects doing impossible frankenstein swaps. I think it often ends up blowing apart.

when I say blowing apart, I mean it : this is a nitrous bottle "incident" he had...

Correct. Its a vacuum operated bypass.

A brief spec of the engine

Megasquirt ECU (shift lights, Knock sensor etc)
Vitara pistons
O-ringed block
Balanced con rods
ARP bolts all round
Homemade cast alloy manifolds
Ford EDIS & 36-1 trigger wheel
custom fuel rail
supra fuel pump
mitsubishi 330cc injectors
eaton m45 supercharger

Car
Fibreglass door, front end, boot.
plexiglass windows etc
fully stripped out
rollage

should weigh under 600kg

Still needs tuning, less restrictive exhaust and charge cooler but should be good for 200+ bhp.

maybe it's all for the best that you guys stay away from that cat.

you won't be inclined to catch shrapnel from his next "incident." :blackeye:

check the photobucket account i linked the pics from. maybe there are more....

what I know about it it's a stock manifold which he chopped off the plenum, and he welded a flange right onto the runners. he told me he put some restrictors on #1 and #2 runners in an attempt to balance the 4 runners equally. the thing litterally sits out about half way out of the engine bay. I never seen a hood on this car, it was not made yet. I didn't like his tensionner (made of timing belt tensionner bits) but he said it did not slip @ 5 psi.

The tensioner on that Gold colored job is totally incorrectly installed, the flat side of the belt should be running on it.
Not the belt grooves as shown in the picture, that will wear out the belt grooves in no time.

since we're gonna' pick on the guy, :-P if he used the flat side of the belt against the tensioner he'd achieve a better wrap on the blower pulley. :D

Ive seen the alt on all the minis that are swapped that way. That is a neat way to get them to fit in there. What is the water pump pulley from??? And is that a stock crank pulley machined down??? Thanks Stephen

The water pump pulley is custom made for the 6 rib belt and yes the crank pulley is the original turned down.
