The crank trigger is installed!

And the GSXR coils have been test fitted, not yet installed because I didn't have the transistors to drive them last saturday.

the crank trigger gives more precise ignition timing, free from all the jitter associated with a timing belt and distributor drive.
The coil-on-plug just gives a more reliable ignition and less electrical noise.

hmm any chance on a full write of where these parts got sourced, how to, and costs :)

The crank trigger was cut by a local machine shop using an Omex CNC waterjet. Another source would be emachineshop, their software has a gear wizard so its quite easy to make things like this with it.
The sensor I used was an ABS sensor from the rear axle of a Toyota 4runner.
The coils come off a GSXR600 and were sourced on eBay.
And to control the lot I use a Megasquirt.

No, I will just use the scope to work it out. Should be something like 7ms.

Id love an electromotive setup to run carbs but this seems a great little upgrade if I used a cheap ignition only setup.
Some bikes used ignition only crank angle setups but electrics are my weakness. will be nice to see the results of your setup.

So are u still in Dublin Baldurg?

When can I have a look at ur modifications/cars/jeeps etc?

Are you any good building custom exhausts?

Nice job! I'm working on doing the same thing at the moment, it's going to be tricky getting the pulley and the trigger wheel concentric. I was thinking of tack welding it on but i'm going to have to make sure I have the trigger angle 100% correct before I go doing that.

It would be nice to have and adjustable setup, similar to how adjustable cam pulleys work.

Hi mate,

I'm going to setup a megasquirt for my Swift gti. I saw your post, and I was ondering to get those ignition coils from GSX-R. That ignition coil it's "plug n play" it fit well? Did you connect them in Parallel or Series (check the pic)? I said something about a transistor's?? What for?

Sorry for the bad english and also sorry for digging this old thread...

Regards from portugal.

DaRK
