Hello,
Does anyone have any info on ARP bolts for the G16B SOHC engine?

I am particularly after main and head bolts / or stud kits if available.

One would imagine that with everything they have something on their shelves even if intended for another type of car or motor say Honda may suit the G16B???

Has anyone done it? Any info would be appreciated.

Failing that I will send them some sample bolts to make stronger ones.

I used ARP 165-5401 which is either for a Nissan or a Saturn(invoice says Saturn, a google search says Nissan) on my G13B. The washers were wrong tho. Too large to fit in the recesses on the head, so I had to get different ones.

OK, ARP have the following studs available off the shelf in 8740 series that will suit the G16B SOHC requirements.
Torque specs of these studs exceed the OEM bolts.
You can get tougher in ARP2000 spec but they will have to be custom made at more time and more cost.
So I plan to order these.

Part numbers:

AM4.500-1UB
(4.500” stud, with .958” of M10x1.5 and 1.047” of M10x1.25, undercut
(Shank diameter; for the head stud )

AM3.750-1LB
(3.750” stud, with 1” of M10x1.5 and 1” of M10X1.25, no undercut mains)

These are what I plan to order... they are also looking into off the shelf flywheel and pressure plate bolts to match OEM specs for me.

OK, the part numbers quoted above are only for the studs. (No nuts or washers)

I have been quoted the following prices from Rocket Industries. (Who I have to order ARP bits through in Oz)

Qty: 10 of AM4.500-1UB $10 + GST each.

Qty: 10 of AM3.750-1LB $7 + GST each.

Special Order from the USA.

The kit part numbers which include studs, nuts and washers are as follows: (These are prices from Rocket industries in AUS$)

KIT # 201-4603 = $245.30 EACH AND CONTAINS 14-STUDS / NUTS & WASHERS.

KIT # 201-5001 = $124.11 EACH AND CONTAINS 10-STUDS /NUTS & WASHERS

Unfortunately one of them presumably main stud kit includes 14 when only 10 are needed. Extra cost. Ergh! The kit must have been for a six cylinder car.

The above kits have been ordered through Rocket Industries.
Cheers,
Damian

Hello,
I picked up the ARP Main and Head studs from Rocket Industries this morning.
Damn Expensive in the end ~$430 for both main and head stud kits but I guess that is the way it goes. :|
They are kits to suit a M50 BMW 2.5 6 Cylinder.

KIT # 201-4603 = HEAD STUD KIT

KIT # 201-5001 is superseded by KIT # 201-5000 = MAIN STUD KIT

Thus I have 14 of each item when I only need 10.
I may buy more kits a later stage and sell them off so as to get rid of the excess if there is interest.

The supplied washers both main and head washers are too big for the head... So I will have to reuse the originals.

However, the washers for the head studs which are larger than the ones for the main studs seem better suited to the main caps.

The photos are here.

Cheers,
Damian

My flywheel has returned after having helicoils fitted and I was finally able to take measurements that were needed to send off to ARP in regards to supplying suitable flywheel to crankshaft bolts and pressure plate to flywheel bolts.

They replied with the following:

Quote:
HI DAMIAN

THE FLYWHEEL I COME UP WITH .873 UNDER HEAD LENGTH. KIT # 209-2801 = .985 UNDER HEAD LENGTH YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE THAT WORK. PRESSURE PLATE BOLT I COME UP WITH .511/13MM. I HAVE 5-PACKS WITH WASHERS THAT ARE 16MM. USING THE WASHER WITH THE BOLT THIS SHOULD WORK. PART # 661-1017 X 2

THANKS

RONF

Thus I have emailed Rocket Industries to ask for prices...
QTY 1. - KIT # 209-2801
QTY. 2 – KIT # 661-1017

I will order them and keep them for later (next time gearbox needs to come off) and fit them then... I don't want to wait anymore and motor is going back together and into car tomorrow / this weekend.
The block returns from being bored, decked, welch plugs fitted etc today.
Cheers,
Damian

Hi will all those bolts work for the G13B DOHC or just the G16?

I am led to believe from what I was told on redilnegti.com that they are the same for the G13B but as I don't have one etc... I can not guarantee it.
