Hi, i had the same idea, wanted to use a 98 esteem engine in a hatchback geo. I found that the bell housing bolts are located in different places, meaning you must use a 1.6 trans with the 1.6 engine. Perhaps you can get the trans out of the swift as well as the engine?

one other thing, i believe if you are using the 16Valve 1.6 from a swift you could use the wiring harness from a 97-99 1.3 16v geo/swift. It appears the 1.3 and 1.6 16v use the same intake system and multi port injection.

Your better off with a donar car. Going from 3cyl to any 4cyl requires lots of parts. Going to a 1.6 requires lots more parts.

Please don't say things you haven't tried. Put 1.3 flywheel and clutch on 1.6(yes it bolts up) and top 2 bolts line up on both 1.0/1.3 and 1.6 engines for trans. Fabricate the rest.

I said the bell housing bolts were in different locations. You said two are the same, two are different????? Doesn't that mean they are(two of them) in different locations? This is why i suggested getting the donor car trans. Just because i haven't done it, doesn't mean i can't point out things to be aware of.

you'd have to also move the front engine mount and the rear tranny mount.
