Have you found your information yet? I have never done this swap, but this is some general knowledge that pertains to it. The 1.6 will NOT bolt to your 1.3 trans without fabrication work. I believe this alone is one of the major hurdles to this swap. If i were to tackle it i would want a complete donor car. Ideally it would be best if the cars were of the same generation, which unfortunately yours aren't. This is due to differences in wire harness locations. Do some digging and you will find much more information, but know that it will be a bit of a tricky swap. Just a suggestion, a 98-99 1.3 16V engine would be an easier swap and they do make pretty good power.

hi,
no i haven't found information yet about the swap.

the reason why i asked it.
is because whe have these cars and an 1.3 16V isn't builded since 1996 the GTI version.
and whe have an sedan 1.6 and an 1.3 hatch and the 1.6 is using much gasoline in comparing to the 1.3 engine.

I can help, but are you going to do the swap? Are you swapping the trans also. Give me more info. It's not that hard, you just need to know what parts to use.

Littlemsg, I gather you have some 1.3-1.6 swap info? Could I pick your brain on a possible swap I am going to tackle?
