I'm owner of one 1.6 GTi but this setup was build 3 years ago, so it would need a refresh.

So, in the picture below, you can see (most of you already know this and have seen this) a gap between G16 block and a tranny bellhousing.

Guys who did this conversion didn't do nothing at all to correct this issue, so my engine looks like this one on the picture... :oops:
So far, so good... Nothing happened due to this hole between engine and tranny.


What do you guys suggest?
To have this gap welded and stick to GTi box or to put on a stock G16 tranny...?
Are there any alternatives to make this thing "safe"...?

dmw dave over on redline sells a adptor plate that would work well

look on ebay for a samurai adapter plate. That is the same thing. they go 1.6motor to stock 1.3 trans. its about $150 ish for the kit. Or just do a 1.6 trans which i hear are alot stronger.

you shouldn't need an adapter plate to fix it. All you need is to get the bellhousing from a 1.6 baleno glx. They have the g16b block and the standard tranny as the 1.3 swift. As it turns out, I have one in my backyard with no desire to use the tranny/bellhousing for anything. I took the engine out to upgrade my glx swift, which I can safely say has the strongest gearbox ever. I've been trying to kill it for five years and she just keeps taking every beating i throw at her and asks for more! The head and block on the other hand are a little worse for wear (hence the donor Baleno.) Which my wife is pestering me to get rid of, and now that i have the usefull bits, you'd be doing me a favour by taking the tranny off my hands. I do however recommend the 1.6 gearbox though, it's fucking indestructible!

If you're interested in a tranny... hehe

I think that your tranny would cost me like 500$ to ship it to me...
One guy here from cosuzuki.com wanted to sold me an working G16 tranny for less than 200$... :)


So U say that it would be better to put 1.6 tranny...
I'm just a little "worried" because of loosing acceleration and GTi's tranny on my car has great flexibility no matter in wich gear you are and I don't wanna loose that either... :|



P.S. Why G16 bell housing doesn't fit GTi's....? :huh: If it doesn't fit... :oops:

What pistons did you use?
