i have a 86 samuri, i know you guys are all street mod guys but i figured you would know more about this than the 4x4 people, only think they talk about if ford, jeep, toyota and the like. and you guys seem nice to talk to. but anyway on to my problem. this engine is strong but the carb went bad, i bought a good used carb to replace it and wired the hoses up the way it showed under the hood and it wouldnt even start. we tinkered with the routing till we got it running but its like the vacuum surges while its idleing pulling on the distributor and causeing a slight skip, annoying but not major. the major part is when you apply the vacuum assisted brakes it will kill the engine at lower speeds, kinda makes it hard to deal with at stop lights, like it doesnt pull enough to run both the brakes and the distributor thus letting the timeing slip and causeing it to not fire at all (atleast thats what seems to be happining). i need a diagram if anyone has one. maby one showing only whats needed for opperation. im not worried about emissions. actualy the less junk under the hood the better. any advice would be great, thanks guys.

Try disconnecting the vacuum feed to the dizzy first. Plug it and run the car and see what happens. Vacuum advance is often only used for emmissions control anyway, and reducing fuel usage at cruise.
