i was wondering if i could cange my carb and keep my original intake. it is a 1988 1.0. what all carbs will work?

your pretty well screwed
you can use a jap carb that is
not controled by the ECM
Aussy had them
if you need a carb try Tbirdscott he might have a good one

i was wondering if i could use an aftermarket 2bbl if i made an adapter. ive seen some smaller cfm holleys at work.

I think the weber downdrafts are close in boltpattern. I haven't compared them, so don't take it as a fact though. On my '93 1.0, I made an adapter out of steel and put an old rochester 2SE on it. I had to hog out the plenum big time, change the distributor, and mess with the jetting, but it really didn't help alot. I think more power is available in the heads, cam, and exhaust, personally.
