I am having major problems with the stock Hitachi carb on my '87 Chevy Sprint. The carb was rebuilt in hopes of fixing the high idle problem. No amount of carb adjustment seems to help lower the idle. As soon as I turn the key, the engine practically "redlines". I've been looking online for stock replacement carbs and it looks like there are two different models available: a single inlet and a dual inlet carb. I know this is probably a stupid question  ...but how can I tell whether my carb is the single or dual inlet model? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Did you adjust the choke properly? Mine was revving high till i bent the choke lever a little to fix it. Take a look at this....

Single inlet??

I've heard of single choke and dual choke, but, never single inlet and dual inlet - if it helps it's a dual choke.

Sorry! I should have been more specific. Supposedly, there was a single fuel inlet carb and a dual fuel inlet carb for '85-'88 Sprints. Anyone have any info they can share on this?

Matt: Thanks for the link. I actually ran across that link earlier and will try bending the choke lever. The car idles extremely fast whether the engine is warm or cold. It's so bad that I don't even like to start the car because I'm afraid the motor is going to blow. It's gotta be idling somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-5,000 RPM...it sounds like a lawnmower that's about to launch into orbit.
