The Tillotson HL series carb can be had with a decent sized throat, I think 1" was the biggest, and have only a high speed and low speed mixture screw, which would make tuning a breeze.

Just an out loud dream....

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is. LOL.

The HL is the smallest of the tilly diaphram carbs followed by the HR with the HD being the biggest. They are good carbs for holding one rpm range but if you have ever spent much time monkeying around with old sleds you will understand why they lick balls. They make good paperweights.

is there any wonder why i used to yank tillotson diaphragm type carbs off my old harleys and replace them with mikunis?

actually, with no intermediate speed jetting, those were always a pain the butt to tune and they had piss poor acceleration pumps. we were constantly replacing the diapragms when they ruptured.

old solex side draft carbs were better and weber carbs always had a larger selection of jets and emulsion tubes (before they both withdrew to the european market.) even hd motor company saw the light when they ditched the tillotsons.

fuel injection technology is so much better in so many ways, why not pull your hairy, knuckle dragging ass into the 21st century. :-P

dreaming? sounds more like night terrors to me! =)
