I have 3 different trannys to use for my Metro to gt swap. One's a GT tranny, one's a metro vert tranny, and one's a stock metro 1.0 tranny. I was thinking about mating the gt engine to the vert tranny to give it some more umph off the line, but will it just make it uncontrollable on takeoff? I plan on leaving the engine stock aside from an upgraded throttle body and 2 inch exhaust with glasspack. Help me guys, I dont want to regret my decision and pull the tranny out again. Synchromesh isnt cheap.

the GT trans has heavier components inside. For example the ring and pinion are much beefier in the GT.

I've had a vert tranny in my GTi swap for a while now, and I'm much happier with it. I've had synchros fail, but never a diff fail. Yes, the vert diff is a weak point, but unless you're running 300hp behind it, I don't think you'll have a problem in the future.

Do you think that traction will be a problem with the vert tranny? Does takeoff seem noticably improved with the vert tranny versus the gt tranny?
