Hello everybody im new to this forum!

Here's my problem!

My forsa 1986 automatic stays at 1st gear, it wont shift to 2nd and so forth. i dont know what's happening to it! is this electrical problem or mechanical problem?
I lifted the car with a jack and tried to shift manually but i dont know any other procedure besides that. on a side note, the engine harness was recently replaced, dont know if this is relevant! thanks!

oh never mind! i found out my speed sensor wasnt connected to the cluster! Thanks.

In order to get the proper help, you have to include all information.
If your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wasn't connected, you'd get a code "24" when you checked for codes on any Suzuki model after '86. So, depending on your date of manufacture, you might have had a code '24'.
Now, if your vehicle did not have the little switch up under the dash on the right, but instead had the switch next to the fuse box, your car would have given you a 'SENSOR' code.
In '84-'86 these codes were not specific.
That is to say, it did not identify WHICH circuit was causing the problem.
It just told you that you had to go and check them all, one by one, until you found the problem circuit.
Obviously, the newer systems are better because they tell you exactly which one is bad.

So, you should have had a SENSOR (red light on the dash labeled 'sensor') light flashing.
This is very crucial information, and without it, no one could help you.

Two things: either you could have posted a picture of your under dash wiring, and the membership could have been of more help, or you could have posted the SENSOR information so we could point you in the right direction.

Next time, if you have a general problem (like you just did) try and explain the last thing you did before the problem arose.
Also, be sure to give information regarding sensor light codes.

If your car's SENSOR light is not working, now is the time to replace it.

Try not to get too discouraged; cars are complicated.
It takes years to learn how to diagnose and fix them.

i dont know how to read the codes on my car but one thing i know that the sensor light was lit on my cluster. other than that i just dont know as im not a mechanic hehehehe! but i suppose the speed sensor is connected to a shaft that runs through a firewall to the tranny and that thingy was not connected on my cluster. i have yet to check if the car shifts cause im fixing my radiator but as soon as i fix it, i'll let you know! Thanks man
