I lost 5th gear and was wondering what the problem could be?

and it is a 1993 Swift GT with a 1.3 DOHC.

could be a broken tooth, etc better be prepared to take off your transmission and look under the left side cover. maybe now is a good time to buy a used replacement transmission before the entire thing is disabled.

Any 5 speed transmission from one of our cars with the G13 engines will work, the gear ratios won't be the same as the GT transmission but will work as a replacement until you fix your problems you have. There are many resources in this forum, you can find out your question by searching and reading guides or download manuals.

5th gear is the only gear you can service with the trans in the car. I can supply you with everything under the cover if you are interested. If everything else works well, most of the time the trans is ok after new 5th put in. The teeth just grind off, not sure exactly why, but have seen it a few times.
