I have seen it referenced here on several occasions that ALL automatics transmissions for all models of Sprint/Metro mk1-mk5 are the same. I am hoping someone one with intimate knowledge of automatics can enlighten.

In doing a search for a rebuild kit I have come across 2 selections for automatics. Mx17 and A130 are the two models. Both being 3 speeds.

MX17 shows as being for 89-01 Metro/Sprint
A130 shows as being for 85-97 Prism and Nova

As I have a 1986 Sprint, my first inclination is to order the kit for the MX17 as it clearly says it is for Sprints, but then there is the year issue.
My main question. I am primarly looking for the gaskets to reseal the upper and lower valve bodies. As far as the internals of the 2 different trannies goes, are the valve bodies and gaskets identical in Both models?

Due to a shifting issue I decided to pull the valve bodies for cleaning. In the process obviously I need new gaskets.

Thanks for any input.

I don't know the answer off the top of my head, but I'd look up the gasket sets for both trannys. the pn's will be the same if they're identical.

I can find the kits all over the web, but they dont give breakdown #'s for the gaskets. Thought of that as well.

***** UPDATE *****

The Kit I ordered was for the MX17. It arrived today and is the correct kit for an 86 Sprint.
One of the best quality gasket kits I've seen in quite some while. Every Gasket, O-ring, ALL seals including the tiny one for the shift shaft, quite a few snap rings no doubt for more internal than I am planning to go. Heck I Paid less for this than I did just for the drive shaft seals and TQ converter seal.

Basic rebuild kit for a 3 speed Automatic in a 1986 Sprint is...
Kit is # 90025 GEO,Sprint,Suzuki mx17 overhaul kit. $38

IF this and the other model (A130) I mentioned in original post, have identical parts in the kit? this I do no know.

They offer 2 other kits which are progressively more complex with more parts.

If your just resealing the transmission then you have the right kit.
If you are rebuilding the transmission, I would recommend that you also get an internal bushing kit.
Worn bushings is the biggest reason internal seals start leaking. Internal leaks cause clutch packs to prematurely wear out. Bushing kits usually run $25- 45.
