Had a broken speedometer cable. Cable coupler is oxidized to driven gear housing, so tried to remove driven gear housing. Driven gear housing, in turn, is pretty much fused to transmission case with aluminum oxide deposits. Top of driven gear housing is now broken off, so I can see the deposits. Any suggestions? Strong acids and bleach will attack the aluminum as well as the oxide. Anyone tried ammonia?
