Hello!

Tried to find info about difference from bearing and casing
on mk1 gti , mk2 gti and mk2 1,3 sohc

I know that mk1 gti has
input shaft clutch side bearing koyo 32004jr-n
input shaft 5th gear side bearing Koyo 32202r1-n-lft
output shaft 5th gear side bearing Koyo 32202r1-n-lft
output shaft end ratio side bearing 32005 jr-n-lft

Diff side bearings koyo 6207 both sides

So, what about mk2 gti and mk2 1,3 sohc?
I read somewhere from this forum Phil'n' Ed's gearbox rebuilt
that mk2 sohc box? has diff side bearings different size 6007 and 6207 forexample
Does mk2 gti has same bearing

Reason why I'm asking this because my mk1 rally car CR box
called co-operation off! I,m planning to fit mk2 dogbox to it.
I don't have the mk2 casing yet and I want to know if there is difference
between mk2 gti and mk2 1,3 sohc box
I know that the gear ratio's are different but how about bearings and rest of the box?

Thanks for answers

Mk1 and Mk2/3 Gearboxes are completely different, only thing that is interchangeable is the crownwheel, one diff bearing, a few other bearings and two seals I think.
Mk2 gti and mk2 sohc boxes are exactly the same except for a small lug on the bellhousing for an extra brace, mk2 gti has better 3,4,5 gears (except North American models) and gti has a bigger diff, neither of which will affect you.

Mk2 is quite a bit shorter, the photo below shows the two mk1 variants and the shorter one is a mk2 input shaft.
