Hey guys, a guy wants to sell me this baleno gearbox but he isnt sure exactly which model it came from. I want to use it as a spare for my swift GTi, so I am coming to you to see if anyone can identify it and its compatibility.

Thanks
Neil

If that Belano had G16 or J18 I doubt you can bolt that onto G13, Those use different bell housing then G13. Dattman would know for sure

It's definitely a G series box, the 3 detent bolts together tell me it's a small framed box, looks like a g15 or g16, internally it has the gti diff but with standard gear ratios, likely to be a 4.1 final drive.
Good for spare parts but unless it was from a g13 baleno (fairly sure they didn't make one) the top two bell housing bolts won't line up.

Just checked on EU web sites , all 3 dr hatchbacks were 1298cc 86hp powered , sure sounds like they had G13 in Balenos from '98 till '01. Maybe they sold them in Trinidad too.

Find out first if the car had G13 , if it did you may be lucky. In any case you need to do some research. Maybe call local dealer and talk to parts or service guys

EDIT: finally found a pic of the engine , sure looks like G13BB SOHC 16V under the hood

Nice investigation, learn something new every day  , definitely didn't get anything smaller than a g15 in Baleno's in my part of the world, that explains why the distance between the top starter motor bolt and the top bell housing bolt hole is short like a swift box, stabiliser rod stud doesn't quite look in the right place for a swift but I'm sure you can modify it if need be, I would think the internals will be the same as the g15/g16 model I described previously.

Thanks guys, we have 1.3 balenos here but my mechanic who specializes in suzuki, said this box didnt look familiar. So the engine and box may have been purchased foreign used, thats why I turned to TeamSwift for help. Once the internals are the same thats ok then, because its for a spare. I use my swift for autocross
