Is it possible? even with minor machining, i have found a 4.7:1 swift box. but rules state i must use production gearbox casing for the car.

Are they really going to know ? Just asking, I raced a built 383 small block in a street and trail class as a 400 and gladly took the weight penalty. Most people really have no clue what they are looking at.

I sold this car to a friend at work. I now have a Saturn L which is an Opel Vectra B.

Haven't we already had this discussion? Short answer is NO it won't fit, the mk2 shafts are a lot shorter as they narrowed the syncroniser hubs to shorten the gearbox, the crownwheel will bolt upto the mk1 diff but thats it, your best bet is to fit some proper MK1 Gti close ratio 3rd, 4th 5th gears that were sold in Japan, Aus, NZ and get an aftermarket 4.7 cwp made.

Try this guy for a low final drive.
