Happy birthday... All you need now is proper Gti closer ratio 3rd 4th and 5th gears and you have the ultimate box. Can't wait to hear some results!

Talk to me, Dattman.
You referencing the global version of 3/4/5 that didn't hit the north american market?
If so, whatcha got on the shelf you can part with?

And how about plotting the rpms (and posting here) the 2 choices with my 205/60/13 tires? Both scenarios have your 1/2 custom gears.

Love to see the comparison.

Yes, the rest of the world Gtis have 1.375, 1.03 and 0.871 for 3,4,5 respectively, compared to the usual 1.280, 0.914 and 0.758, I'll do some plots over the weekend, 4.389 diff? shift points?

Ok, heres the plot with the standard 345 gears compared to the proper gti gears, even remembered to use mph

The numbers are somewhat long due to your very tall tires, either swapping to a 215/50/13 or going down to a 185/60/13 would accelerate faster.
The calc gives me with 8k shifting and standard 345.

Top Speed in 1 gear = 45.221 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 5294 RPM dropping 2706 RPM
Top Speed in 2 gear = 68.333 MPH
And changes into 3 gear at 5689 RPM dropping 2311 RPM
Top Speed in 3 gear = 96.094 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 5712 RPM dropping 2288 RPM
Top Speed in 4 gear = 134.573 MPH
And changes into 5 gear at 6635 RPM dropping 1365 RPM
Top Speed in 5 gear = 162.269 MPH

GTI 345 gives

Top Speed in 1 gear = 45.221 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 5294 RPM dropping 2706 RPM
Top Speed in 2 gear = 68.333 MPH
And changes into 3 gear at 6111 RPM dropping 1889 RPM
Top Speed in 3 gear = 89.455 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 5993 RPM dropping 2007 RPM
Top Speed in 4 gear = 119.418 MPH
And changes into 5 gear at 6765 RPM dropping 1235 RPM
Top Speed in 5 gear = 141.217 MPH

Question is do you go faster than 89mph in competition? if you only get to around 90mph then leave the standard 3rd gear, if you think you'll do more than 96mph then you need to change things around so you can properly use 4th gear, either a 4.7 or 4.9 diff along with smaller OD tires and gti 4th gear, the reason you won't accelerate much in standard 4th gear is with your setup your revs will be down to 5944 at 100mph, the gti 4th gear at 100mph will be pulling 6702 rpm.
Hope that helps, all depends what your top speed is likely to be and gearing to suit.

Awesome. I want it. And I want it now. Somebody sell me everything I need.
Specifically: GTi gears for 3 and 4.
I don't need 5th, got that already.
PM me for tooth counts if you need them.

The fastest Bonneville guys stateside are doing 109 mph in the flying mile on the salt flats with outrageously modified ram air intakes and full 1.0 drivetrains. This info from the most recent meet in the 1.0 class (cars).

Now that I've had a chance to stare at the chart you posted, it's crystal clear I want that red line. Cuz dey ain't no way my little stock bodied mk4 ain't fatter than the mk2 that's setting records this year. I wanna take this little bitch in the salt and do some triple digit antagonizing at the top of 4th gear around 8k rpms.
