I have been offering a performance head package for some time, and because of the gret deal of interest, thought I had better post it up here.
This is the deal,

Performance head package, 89-up 3cyl.

In the performance head package, you get a completely rebuilt, ported and polished head, machined for high compression. It includes a high performance cam of your choice. During rebuild, valve guides, and seals are not checked, they are automatically replaced. The valve seats are ground to 45 degrees, and the valves are ground on three angles, and polished for increased flow. The valve grind is an excellent compromise of performance and longevity. All valves are hand lapped during final assembly. The head mating surface is machined for high compression, 9.5-1 to 10.5-1, or higher by special request. 10.5-1 is the standard.
Intake and exhaust ports, and bowls are ported, with the greater emphasis being on the exhaust side, for increased exhaust flow.
The hydraulic lifters are removed, disassembled, inspected, cleaned, and re-assembled. Any defective/worn lifters are replaced.
With the head package, you get a proven 3tech performance cam of your choice.
The price , in USD for 2005 is, $375/exchange. You can send your head for modification, as well.
There is a polished stainless steel exhaust valve option, at $50. Further customization is always welcome!

I am working on a fuel economy package, to go with the new fuel economy cam. It should be ready soon.

I would be happy to take on some more 4cyl. head work.
PM me with what you would want done, and we can work out a price.
I can also put together a basic price on a package similar to the 3cyl. head.

I've got one of these heads coming to me right now. I'm heading to the dyno this Sunday to get a baseline run in my 96 1.0L Metro. Then, after I get the head installed I'll be going back out and dynoing again.

My current mods are I advanced the timing a bit, added a custom cold air intake, and a 2" cat-back exhaust with a generic turbo muffler.

The cylinder head just arrived. I'll be going down tomorrow morning to get a baseline dyno, then tomorrow afternoon I'll start the install of the new head.

My best 1/8th mile drag strip time last night was a 13.2 @ around 50 mph(the track lost my time slip on that run  ).

The dyno results for my stock headed 96 Metro were 38 whp and 41 wtq.

just want to clear something up. We would have to remove our cylinder head send it to you to be modified? Or do you have some on the shelf ready to go? What is a average turn around time for someone wanting there head modded? Might be planning on having this done in the fall.

So when are you gonna start doing this on the twincam head? I'm sure there's a lot of guys here who wouldn't mind a kickass head for their GT/GTi.

Turnaround time depends on what you want done. I have a half dozen cores, with 4 out right now, so you can send your head back later, or send it in, your choice. I don't have time to have one ready on the shelf, but from order to shipping is typically about 1-1.5 wks.

I have one in my shop just witing for a deposit.
As long as I can get parts, I can do just about any head/cam.
I would never turn down head. :D

Nice. You just had to see that one... errr, coming.

So back to the actual topic. Will your customers be able to purchase the head and send you their old ones for a core charge? I already planned on getting a cam and was thinking of a rebuild. This is a better option for me.

Pricing will depend on what type of package is requested, but a comprehensive package of mild port/polish, machining for compression, grind and polishing of the valves, and grinding the seats along with one of three possible cam grinds will probably be only slightly more than you would expect to pay for a set of performance cams outright from some other suppliers.
I think th GTi heads will be more custom, and alot will depend on the condition of the head. 16 guides/seals, etc. start to add up.

Yes.
That is the reason I've been looking for core heads recently. I have a great deal with the wreckers I deal with for cores, but in these temps, I'd much rather pay a few extra bucks, and buy them privately.
Just give me a bit of notice. All my cores are out right now, but I expect a few back soon.

I haven't been able to find larger valves for the Metro head, but have a source for larger valves for the early 3cyl. head.
I haven't looked too hard, mostly because there is little room to accomodate more valves. With a littl bit of porting, and some work to the valves themselves, the flow increases dramatically. The polished SS exh. valves are a nice addition.
I have 3 excellent profiles, and I am working on a few more right now. It really depends on what your intended application (street, strip, roadrace, etc.) will be, and and what you think your max RPM is.
Let me know that, and I can make a recomendation.
Look in the cam thread for the profiles.
