I want to make a huge thread of what everybody drives and gets in terms of mileage.

Can everybody list the year of the car, transmission, displacement, the amount of mileage you get per tank, and anything else relavent to why you get the mileage you do.

I'll start...

91 Firefly/ Auto Tranny/ 1.0 liter/ all city 400kms /city and highway 450-500km.

1989 Chevy Sprint 1.0l 10* cam gear no muffler, side exit exhaust, no air filter, 14" steelies, big stereo, no passenger seat. I can get about 650 kms on a tank while baggin' on it the whole time. 40 kms daily half freeway at 80km's and half street at 60 km's. It also burns about a litre a week of oil. :blaaah:

91 Swift GT/5 Speed/1.3L DOHC/Mildly Modded

Timing advanced 4 degrees to +10. Sunoco Ultra 94 octane fuel.
Mobil-1 10W30 Synthetic. Lucas 75W90 Synthetic in the tranny.

Got 50 mpg (imperial) today by keeping my speed down to 105 kph or 65 mph at approx 3200 rpm max on the highway. Keeping the speed down was difficult, but I managed for this report! :D

Hey Guys,

CMA is correct and I will clarify myself. :)

Before heading up north I filled my tank until the pumped clicked off and I added no more gas. I then reset my odometer.

When I came back home to T.O. I did the same as above and recorded my mileage. The pump just happened to click off at $19.99 so I added the penny. Simple math came up with the MPG. I still prefer the "old" imperial system of MPG vs metric due to my age.

I've been driving for 30 years and I've always done it this way.

Hope that answers your question LooseCannon.

Breaking news...

Gas prices spiked up again this morning! :x

I once averaged 64 MPG over 700 miles when I lived in Utah... summer weather, above 5000 feet, in the mountains using 85.5 octane.

Normally I get about 55 MPG combining city and highway driving in the summer where I live now.

I just got my '91 metro convertible in July. My experience thus far has been:
31.5 mpg driving on the interstate wot (~85) from oregon to minnesota (less than 280 miles per fill)
recently drove to southern minnesota respecting posted limits of 65mph and got 38 mpg
drove 80 miles to a nearby town going ~55 (60 downhill 50 uphill) and got 58.7 mpg!
Speed makes a tremendous difference!
