For anyone interested, I've just stripped down a G16 from a 1998 Esteem, and weighed the major components. My measurements are as follows:

Block – bare with main caps, water pump 48.5 lbs
& oil filter

Cylinder head with valve train (less camshaft 25.5
but includes caps)

Pistons & rods (no caps), head gasket, head bolts, 8.5
cam tensioner, misc bolts

Crankshaft with front pulley bolt 25.5

Camshaft with gear 6.5

Oil pan & valve cover 8.25

Oil pump, rear seal/cover, thermostat housing, 9.0
Front pulley, oil pick up, flywheel boss, misc bolts

Total 131.75 lbs

I didn't weigh the intake manifold (that looks similar in size to the SSGT one), exhaust manifold (heavy looking cast item) or flywheel/clutch assembly (this one is an automatic, but I suspect this should weigh same as SSGT).

Cheers

Mike,

No this is a motor that came out of a 98 Wagon at Tate's. They had bought the wagon as a non-runner and swapped in the motor from wrecked 2000 that's at Cathcart.

The no. 4 rod had seized at the big end and bent the rod. I'll likely keep the block, head, intake and pan (like new). Camshaft is not distributor-type. Not sure about motor from A1......high miles, but it did run well. If it looks better than the one from John's, I'll build it up. Otherwise, it'll donate missing bits.

P.S. The 5-speed tranny on the Esteem 1.6 looks identical to Swift 5-speed (it's even cable clutch/rod shift). Also, Esteem 1.6 block is externally identical to 4-cylinder Swift.

You might want to take a tape measure to the bolt pattern.
I'll take that cam if you don't decide to use it. :D

I weighed everything in my G13BA 1298cc when I built it in '07.
The complete engine as you might expect to be lifting it out (with manifolds, carburetor, air cleaner, alternator, clutch, radiator hoses and oil but no starter motor) is 85.558kg.
The file was originally in Excel but has since been saved in OpenOffice so let me know if anybody has trouble with it.
