hi
iv just started an itb setup on the gti, its the last major mod im doing to the engine as iv done every thing i want, p+p/ big valve head, 75.5mm 12-1 comp ratio pistons, tighe 952 cams (suposed to be grp a grind)
just finished the inlet, its very simple, if the flange was cut right to start with, i would`v had to do no welding at all

just gathering info on the subject atm, like what i need etc
as i will be using a modified o/e fuel rail the only thing im realy stuck on is the injectors
what cc are std gti injectors, iv read a few threads on the subject some say 220cc some 250
if they are 220 then they will be maxing out at 170ish hp which is quite close to my hopefully expected output wth the itbs, its making 160 atf with the grpa cams atm
iv been looking into injectors for other cars, iv been told of a few injectors that might fit but some of them are weaker than swift gti`s, even thoughthey are in a bigger cc more powerfull engine
what cc are cultus injectors?
can anyone shed some light on the matter?

the itb looking good !

std swift injectors flow aprox 260cc at 55psi, the cultus injectors flow approx 330cc at 55psi

Nice setup, very clean. I'm planning to do ITB's on my 1.6 16v, but I'm a little low on budget atm.

finaly found some velocity stacks that dont cost an arm and a leg, they are for some webber 45`s but the bore size is perfect, my itbs taper down to 36mm from 45 on the main bodie
they will take some mods to get them right, but nothing i cant handle :wink:

iv setled on adaptronic ecu from aus
it works with all of the original sensors inc the dizzy crank sensor, the unit has a built in map sensor so i can do away with the maf, so its a simple setup, with scope for upgrading to a 36-1 trigger and proper electronic igntion, maybe something similar to your setup, i like the idea of not having a seperate coil pack
the only thing i need to do now is work out what sort of plenum im going to make and if i have to mod my strut brace to suit

Hey, Thanks for the update. The Vstacks look almost perfect. Actually, your setup like quite simple with the bolt-on runners to the flange. 8) Keep us posted ;)

You've made an excellent decision on the velocity stacks.
This model is the best ever.
I know, I bought a set and replaced my short very expensive velocity stacks with them and they were great, very noticeable performance gain , plus they didn't crack with my solid engine mount and not rubber spacer between the carbs and the manifold.

almost :wink: , very simple setup, the itb o/e rubber runners are round -oval, they took a bit of grinding work to get them matched to the suzuki flange, the grinding exposed an ali base in the rubber so i can seal up the gap using a bit of cold weld as the original seals wont work
that was the easy bit, still working out how im gona fit the stacks and still have them removable from the bodies

i got the vstacks on uk ebay, £35 shipped from hungary, they are cast but machined on the inner surface with no bubbles so they must be a good cast
nice large radius should help the airflow alot

made some good progress on the bodies
cleaned them up from all the oil and grime, made up some rings to cold weld on so i can fix the vstacks and filter backing plate properly

That cold weld stuff is awesome, used some on my motorcycles engine block which had a small leak, no more leak and it's just as solid as the metal :)

iv done the main bits on the itbs now
got a good 2nd/h filter on ebay, made a new backing plate which will also be used to bolt to a plenum box, so it looks a bit shit on its own
just got to clean everything and spray it all up
made a little mistake when i trimmed the v stacks, one wasnt lined up with the screw holes when i marked them off :oops:

started on my vacuum mani
found a nice bit of ali box, i used npt fuel conections, just got to weld on some sides and its good to go

almost done the catch tank, just got to do the bottom
i used the push on fittings for both ends, they can handle 10bar of pressure so im hoping it wont leak

Hey, I used a similar setup oil catch tank on my GTi, then I realized that the air filter I was using only had a 1/2" ID fitting, which meant that both 1/2" lines coming from the Cam Cover were being reduced down to a single 1/2" port. The problem that I ended up with was that the pressure increased and I was getting loads of Oil vapor bypassing the baffles in the catch tank and were coming straight out the air filter!

I ended up buying a K&N filter for a motorbike which had a 1" ID flange, then installed a larger hose barb flange on the catch tank to accept the Air Filter upgrade.

here is what it looked like before I replaced the air filter with the larger one

I see where your coming from, my filter is 17 id so it might be boarderline with the back pressure
Tbh I didnt even think about a baffle, looks like im modding it

Swifted in that first pic of your last post you almost had me guy! I was wondering wth is that hose coming from the filter itself...only scrolling down I saw it was the coil to dizzy lead. :lol:

but iv had to abort the filter plate/plenum due to the master cyl in the way

Good choice on Adatpronic.
Very very versatile EMU and prioce competitive. The 440 has some really cool tricks.
Are you gonna install the speed sensors on the wheel hubs to configure traction control?

I was wondering what the original ITB's were?
I got a set off a toyota AE101 with the ITB manifold intact. The ports are damn close. I have a half manufactured adaptor plate beteen them. the ports match up enough so that the angle of entry is only about 20 degrees off centre. The entry is oval already and the same size.

The AE101 and manifold have a second set of injector holes. Who needs big injectors if you can squirt two at once?

I first found adaptronic looking for ecu adapters, they make one for the swift loom but the older model 440
I got chatting with the uk dealer, he uses a similar setup on his drag car, like you say its very versitile
Im keeping it simple with the initial setup, just using all the oe sensors bar the maf and tps, and some cultus cams instead of the 952s, then upgrading all of the ignition, trigger etc when the lumpy cams go in
Not a big fan of tcs, especialy with the modest power of a n/a swift, but handy in the rain I guess
The itbs/runners are from a 600 sports bike, mounted on a laser cut g13b flange, no injectors so I can keep the oe inj and fuel rail
