I have recently installed a new head unit and re installed my old amp and apeakers.
All seem's to be working fine except i cant seem to get more sound to the front speakers.

When i try to adjust the balence via head unit, instead of the sound shifting back to front, the rears just get quieter and the fronts stay at the same(low) level.
There is definitly sound coming from the front speakers as i can hear it and feel the rubber vibrating with my finger.

Im wondering if i may have re-conected the front speakers to the amp the wrong way round + and -. Is this even possable? Would i still get sound from the speaker at a low level if this is what i have done?

Thanks for any help.

Excuse my ignorance but does that mean you can connect 4 speakers? If so then yeas its a 4 way, both rear and front speakers are connected to the amp, not the head unit.

in my past experiance i would say the amp is fried. one way to tell is switch the front and rear outputs and see if the problem switches to the back. if not then it is the output of the deck.

Did what you suggested redneck, switched the speaker connections around and the problem switched, fronts had more sound, rears had less.
Any more ideas what's going on

what brand/ model amp are you running?? could be a dial setting on the amp or could be the amp is done or the outputs from the deck is dead.

Amp is a Kenwood KAC-749S
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_427 ... -749S.html

Had it for years now. There are alot of dials on the side of the amp but i dont know what any of them do  and havent changed anything since i was last using the amp with my old head unit. All factory settings. With the old head unit the front/rear fader worked fine.

New head unit is a Pioneer 8400bt and the speakers are infinity 4" at front and 6x9" at rear if thats any help?

Thanks.

here is the manual for the amp. check all the wires in and out. also check all the dial settings and make sure they are all correct. i still think the amp is done.

take a pic of the amp dials....etc and post that. also take a pic of the speakers wires, and rca's and how they are connected and post that.

i can walk you through how to test everything to come up with a correct diagnosis if you havent figured this out already. do you have a digital mutimeter?...lol
