Need a head gasket. but everyone says felfro is crap. So who makes the best head gasket? CPW, Marks G10, Domistic gaskets? Anyone know? looking for quality gasket.

the dvorak "no blow" head gasket has had some disturbing failures. cometic is a bit too much. the evergreen head gaskets suck. suzuki spg parts are a little hard to find.

i would recommend the fel-pro head gasket or head gasket kit. i have had the best results on g10 engines with fel-pro kits. :wink:

I don't normally recommend them (top line) , but their head gasket works, even under high boost and RPM. I've sold a pile of them in the past and never had a single complaint or return.

I've used a lot of fel pro on these engines and never had a problem(I'd say at least 100 g10's done with them in my shop or more), dnj brand has been sketchy, eristic brand from eBay had near 100% failure rate. I also used a fair amount of sets from Altrom and had good results, used top line years ago and also happy with them, but that brand seems to have disappeared around this area.
I find the whole "felpro is crap" thing very strange, it's hard to dispute the results, they are a very proven manufacturer. In fact around here both my major suppliers only have felpro and Altrom, with napa recently making the switch to felpro chain wide as far as I know. I just don't think a manufacturer of garbage would do as well, and after 20yrs of using them in a daily repair shop environment I think if they were junk it would have became apparent by now. I've maintained cars for 200k after repairing them so I also see the long term results on repairs.
Do make sure to open up oil drain back holes if needed though, I've never had an issue, but it has been a problem for g10 engines in the past occasionally.

I have used fel-pro on many different engines, never had any problems with them.

89 1.0 turbo firefly
2"exhaust,no cats/resonator
3 tech 6*gear
3 tech turbo grind cam
3 tech cylinder head/w/port,polish,blend,oversized s/s valves

89 white gti twincam....need I say more?
