Hi. Glenn and son Nick.
We have been go kart racers and a short stint in off-roading. Now have this little Suzuki. Project for myself and my son. He's 16 and we both drive it. Still upgrading it slowly but enjoying the process. Going to cost a truckload more than it will be worth but then we don't do this to make money...lol.

It's an '89 Mark 2 cultus but cultus engine is gone. Standard 1300gti engine in there.

Came with cage, frame braces etc

What we have done so far.

Cleaned body up and wrapped it.
Removed dash.
Full Lexan.
15" wheels.
New toyo r888r tyres.
BC shocks...changed rear springs to 500 pound (cobra springs from nz) will change front 224 pound to 300 pound soon. Rear spherical mounts made
22mm rear sway bar.
Full poly bush set including engine mounts.
Suzuki sport front calipers.
Rear toe control arms.
Centreforce clutch.

Being done.
Rebuilding the gti box. 4.4 FD. Close ratio. Bearings, seals, synchros etc.
Exhaust soon
Engine work. Cams head etc.
Lighten flywheel
52mm throttle body
Cultus manifold.

Pics to come

Beautiful car! Well done.
Any info on the seats? They look like the perfect size for the car.

Nice build, can you point me where to get these bc racing coilovers? Not finding them in the online catalogs.

Cheers.
I'm away at work but I'll look at the seats when I get home. They came with the car.
As far as the BC racing shocks go.
1. They won't be as good as a custom set up. They are too light in the springs for racing on smooth tracks. Having said that if I wind them up to max compression/rebound they are as stiff as hell. I have upgraded the springs and the shock adjustment appears to handle the spring rates. They fit beautifully.
The kit number is...L-18-RA. You may not find that in the states. Definitely in the U.K. And Australia. I got mine from Suzuki performance racing in Australia. You can find him on redlinegti.
They are rebuildable. BC seem to keep that to themselves as when you buy parts you can only buy "modules" in other words you can't easily get the internals. Easy enough though....buy bilstein internals if you want to change valving. These RA shocks are called "street occasional track" and there are BR series for racing but not for the mark 2 swift. I wonder if there are serious gains there or not...
Many use the Koni adjustable shocks but by the time they are built up you are up for serious $ if you want double adjustable and slightly less serious dollars for single adjustable. The fronts in the bc range adjust ride height without changing preload. That is....the shocks screw into the strut. Very very easy to adjust. Personally....I like them...and they get pretty good write ups....(BC shocks in general)
I can tell you they are very well made. Hope this helps.

Latest acquisition.
Close ratio 3 4 and 5. Thanks Rougeracer. To go with the 4.4 FD and Suzuki LSD. Thanks Dattman.
Not the best close ratio box set up but should be a lot better than standard GTI!

Thanks a lot, I do have the koni coilover setup but looking for easier adjustability without all that modification. Good luck with the rest of the build, looks really neat!

swapped out the BC barrel springs of 224 pounds to cobra springs of 300 pound. The BC springs are 7.2" unloaded. I went for 8" as they are straight and I don't want them to bottom out. I still have room to lower the front another 30mm...and its about right now so I hope they are long enough.

Yes on full lock they do....if we use full lock we are probably crashing....lol. Otherwise we stay off full lock....to fix would be a different wheel offset and then we would have problems on the guards which would mean cutting the guards and adding flares. Or putting smaller wheels on. So far not an issue on the track though.

Mate did this today for me. Off to balance tomorrow. Just under 4 kg now. Back of flywheel just cleaned up and not lightened. Most of material taken from outer rim and between pressure plate mounting points. Did not go extreme...but happy with result. Also picked up some integra rims. Around 5.5 kg. A lot better than the 8.5kg CSA rims I have on right now! Might lose a wee bit as I will probably have to space them due to the extra 12mm of offset. The lad wants to paint them metallic green....thoughts?
