Hi I have a Suzuki Swift GTI -1990 and I just wonder if anyone knows at what milerate its time to change the cam?

Excuse my english im from sweden :P
And I don´t even know if the name of the thing is cam but in swedish it´s called Kamrem. Well even if it´s the wrong name someone of you maybe know what im talking about :D.

The cam is the steel shaft in the head which opens the valves. I suspect you're talking about the timing belt, the rubber thing which drives the cam. I think it's supposed to last around 75K miles, maybe 120K kilometers.

The owners manual says to inspect it at 70k miles

The timing belt should be replaced every 100,000 kms. If there's no service history on it being replaced, that's your cue to replace it now. The GTi is an interference engine, and you'll be looking at some expensive damage if the belt should ever snap.
