I think I have found a source for TBI pressure hats. I just bought one and when it arrives I will try it on my N/A G10 TBI so I can go turbo. I am currently getting in contact with the manufacturer and will be posting info as soon as I hear back from him. The dimensions look like they will work on the G10 TBI. Here are some pics and his description.

Quote:
This is an aluminum hat that can be used for various applications. It's perfect for the person building a custom turbocharged or supercharged engine. This would be mounted on the throttlebody or carburetor in order to force feed the engine. This was designed to fit on the small General Motors T.B.I. units used on many of their 4 cylinder engines. The base measures 4.5" O.D., 4.125" I.D., and 2.5" tall. The inlet measures 2.25" O.D., 2" I.D., and 1.75" long out of the base. The mounting holes have not been drilled. This will allow for mounting in different positions.

Looks like it'll work. Where'd you happen to run across that?

Kento87 found it on e-bay and sent me the link. I purchased it buy it now for $30. I asked the seller where he got it. He said he gets the castings from a local supplier in Illinois and machines the ID of the inlet. I will pass on more info as soon as he gets back to me.

Here is an e-mail that I have recieved from the supplier of the pressure hat. He is trying to start his own fabrication business.
His email is BadGS750@aol.com

Quote:
Hey, thanks for the input on your project. I love messing around with turbocharging stuff. I am finishing up turbocharging a 89 Suzuki GSXR750 that we also added custom fuel injection to. I know all about building things and not being able to find the needed parts for the job and having to fabricate them. This is the basis for the small business I am trying to get going. I want to provide some custom parts to the smaller markets to help with their projects. I have a CNC mill and can machine custom brackets, flanges, and adapters.
Anyway that's my story, if anyone else is looking to get these bonnets, just have them email me directly. I didn't drill the mounting holes because I'm not sure what people are using it on. Also, if you have something you need made for the project let me know.

Keep me posted on how it fits,

Little update.

I recieved the pressure hat this weekend, and when I tried to fit it to the TBI it does not fit. It hits the little raised edges of the TBI that are used for centering the stock air cleaner base. It is really close to fitting. I am going to try and grind the ID of the pressure hat to get it to fit. There is plenty of material to take off.

You might want to speak to the guy who made/sells it. He might be able to size them up a bit. BTW did you get my package yet?

Thanks. The emblem is pretty cool.

Just a little update on the pressure hats.....

I had the seller machine the large opening to 4.25" to fit the G10 TBI. It will fit but, now has an issue of clearing the corners of the FPR. I am going to see if I can grind down the corners and get the hat to fit.

That is a pretty cool looking set up.

I did manage to grind the ID of the pressure hat and grind the corners of the FPR to make it fit. Wasn't much effort. I used a 2" drum sander chucked into a 3/8" drill with 50 grit sand paper to basically "clean up" the ID of the pressure hat.

Yeah it does look like what is installed in that picture. Next time I'm out in the garage I'll snap a mock up pick.

Actually the master cylinder is on the "right" side - right hand side - that is. ;)

I am working on finding or making some sort of seal for the hat. I tried using the rubber seal from the stock air cleaner base, but it is too thick. I was thinking of laying a bead of silicone on the hat and letting it dry before installing it. A large square cut o-ring would be perfect if I can find one.

Anyone have any ideas?
