my plan was to keep it front wheel drive, but if its only possible with a rwd transmission, ill just do that. i guess my real question is is it possible to fit the v6 and keep it as a street car. obviously id lose a couple of things, ac and such, but thats not a problem, as im already without ac.

You may want to consider a Mitsubishi 6A12 engine. You'll have to look overseas to get one. It's an all aluminum 60 degree DOHC 2.0L V6 engine. Should put out about 170HP. They also make a version with MIVEC that's a lot like honda's VTEC. it makes 200hp. And then there's a TT version making about 200hp also.

You may be able to find a 6A10 which is the same but destroked to 1.6L. Stock 140HP. In japan they can tune them to produce 300HP NA.

well my friend goes to a tech school where they have random engines laying around, and when he graduated they let him have one, so the engine he has is totally free for me, hence the reason im even considering this. if i didnt have this engine i was just gonna do a turbo 3 buildup.

ok, so i did some measuring, and ill be able to fit the engine in without too much modification. so now i begin work on the engine, and eventually work on swapping the engine. the engine has a cracked head, and needs new cylinders and valves, but this should be an extremely fun project, ill keep you guys posted.

Sounds awesome man. Don't forget about axle length and the position of the transmission. You want the axles to be as straight as possible. I'd build the mount design around that, and mod the car to fit the rest of the motor. Good luck man. Good to see someone actually doing a wild swap like that, not just saying "hey, I saw a v-12 once, will it fit in a metro?"

use the Pontiac Fiero tranny for the swap because the tranny will bolt to 3.8 I beleive if not there should be an adapter to fit the motor an tranny together. This is a common swap into fieros so it should work.

It's fragile, and it's only 197hp. It's hp/L ratio is almost as bad as the ford 5.0L. You can get 200hp EASY out of a swift motor with a turbo, and save a couple HUNDRED pounds, and months of fabrication. Perhaps a chrysler 3.5L would be a better engine?

229 is the 3.8 which has been around since the mid 70's in many different configurations. from the odd fire then to the even fire.the later was used in most gm intermediates till 87 . in the buick gnx with turbo and efi it posted mid 13 sec slips. to front drive 90's gm cars going all the way to the bonnevilles distributorless, supercharged bad boy. so ,depending on the engine you are actually getting, i either agree with geozuki and you wasting your time, or holy sweet mother of mary i cant wait to see it done!!
